Creating a free Medicare.gov account is one of the smartest things you can do as a Medicare beneficiary. It gives you secure access to your personal Medicare information, helps you stay organized, and makes it easier to manage your coverage confidently year after year.

Here’s what you can do with your own account:

  • View your current coverage
Instantly see which plans you’re enrolled in and when your coverage started.

  • Check your medication history
Your account includes a record of your prescriptions filled under Medicare—handy for confirming what you’ve taken and when.

  • See your claims and costs
Review your recent Medicare claims, spot billing errors, and track your out-of-pocket spending.

  • Keep your data private and secure
Your Medicare account uses the same level of encryption as online banking. No one—including HeyMOE—can access your data unless you choose to share it directly (and we’ll never ask for your login).

How to Create Your Medicare.gov Account

It only takes about 5 minutes to set up your account. Here’s how:

  1. Go to Medicare.gov/account

  2. Click “Create an account”
You’ll find this button just below the blue “Log in” button.
  3. Enter your information:

    • Medicare Number (from your red, white, and blue Medicare card)

    • Last name

    • Date of birth

    • Zip code

    • Effective date for either Part A or Part B (also on your card)

  4. Choose a username and password
Make it something memorable but secure.
  5. Set up your security questions
These help verify your identity if you ever forget your password.
  6. Confirm your email address
You’ll get a verification email from Medicare.gov—click the link to activate your account.

That’s it! You now have 24/7 access to your Medicare coverage information.

Quick Tips

  • If you get an error when trying to create an account, you may already have one. Click “Log in” → “Forgot username” to recover it.

  • If your spouse has Medicare, each person needs their own separate account.

  • Keep your Medicare.gov username and password private and secure.
