HeyMOE Support
HeyMOE helps you review your Medicare Part D drug plan and reminds you when it is time to take action. HeyMOE does not sell Medicare plans and cannot enroll you in a plan.
Action required: Reviewing or selecting a plan in HeyMOE does not change your coverage. If you want the new plan, you must complete an enrollment through Medicare or the insurance company by the enrollment deadline.

Before you start
Have these items ready:
- Your red, white, and blue Medicare card
- Your Medicare Number
- Your Part A and/or Part B effective dates, shown on your Medicare card
- Your home address and ZIP code
- The exact name of the Part D plan you want
- The plan's contract and plan ID, if available
- Your preferred way to pay any monthly premium
HeyMOE tip: Keep your HeyMOE plan reminder or review results in front of you while enrolling. Match the exact plan name and plan ID before you submit anything. Similar plan names can represent very different coverage.
When to enroll during Medicare Open Enrollment
Medicare Open Enrollment runs from October 15 through December 7 each year. The plan must receive your enrollment request by December 7. Your new coverage will begin January 1.
Option 1: Enroll at Medicare.gov with a Medicare account
- Go to Medicare.gov/plan-compare.
- Select the option to log in to your Medicare account.
- Enter your Medicare.gov username and password. Complete any security check Medicare requests.
- Review or update your saved prescriptions and pharmacies so the plan comparison reflects your current needs.
- Find the exact Part D plan shown in your HeyMOE reminder or review. Confirm the plan's full name and plan ID.
- Select Enroll for that plan.
- Review the information Medicare displays, answer all required questions, and submit the enrollment request.
- Save or print the confirmation page and confirmation number.
Stop and check before submitting: The plan type should say Medicare drug plan (Part D) or PDP. If the page says Medicare Advantage, MA, MAPD, HMO, or PPO, do not submit the application unless you intentionally want to replace Original Medicare with a Medicare Advantage plan.
Option 2: Enroll at Medicare.gov without a Medicare account
- Go to Medicare.gov/plan-compare.
- Choose to continue without logging in.
- Enter your ZIP code and answer the questions about your current coverage and assistance programs.
- Choose to view drug plans (Part D).
- Enter your prescriptions, dosages, quantities, and preferred pharmacies if you want to compare estimated drug costs.
- Find the exact plan shown in your HeyMOE reminder or review. Confirm the full plan name and plan ID.
- Select Enroll and enter the information requested from your Medicare card.
- Review your answers, submit the enrollment request, and save or print the confirmation page and confirmation number.
You do not need a Medicare.gov account to enroll. However, an account can make it easier to use saved prescription information and review your Medicare details.
Option 3: Call 1-800-MEDICARE
- Call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227). TTY users can call 1-877-486-2048.
- Say that you want to enroll in a stand-alone Medicare Part D prescription drug plan.
- Give the representative the exact plan name and plan ID from your HeyMOE reminder or review.
- Ask the representative to repeat the plan's full name and confirm that it is a PDP—not a Medicare Advantage plan.
- Provide the information requested from your Medicare card.
- Before ending the call, ask for a confirmation number and the expected effective date. Write down the date, time, and representative's name or identification number.
Option 4: Enroll on the insurance company's website
- Use the web address listed in the plan's official Medicare.gov details or other official plan materials. Avoid clicking an advertisement that may lead to an unrelated sales website.
- Enter your ZIP code and select Medicare Part D or Prescription Drug Plan (PDP).
- Find the exact plan name and plan ID shown in your HeyMOE reminder or review.
- Select the option to enroll and complete the application using the information on your Medicare card.
- Review the plan type and effective date carefully before submitting.
- Save or print the confirmation page, confirmation number, and a copy of the application if one is available.
Option 5: Call the insurance company
- Use the plan phone number shown on Medicare.gov or in the plan's official materials.
- Tell the representative: “I want to enroll in the Wellcare Value Script Medicare Prescription Drug Plan (PDP). I do not want a Medicare Advantage plan.”
- Ask the representative to confirm the plan's full name, plan ID, and that it is a stand-alone PDP before starting the application.
- Complete the enrollment questions using the information on your Medicare card.
- Before ending the call, ask for an enrollment confirmation number and effective date. Write down the date, time, and representative's name or identification number.
IMPORTANT—Do not accidentally enroll in Medicare Advantage: If the person on the phone suggests a Medicare Advantage plan instead, clearly say: “No. I am calling to enroll only in Wellcare Value Script, a stand-alone Part D prescription drug plan (PDP).”
Joining a Medicare Advantage plan would move you out of Original Medicare. A Medigap policy cannot be used to pay Medicare Advantage costs, and you may not be able to get your Medigap coverage back later. Do not agree to a different plan type unless you have independently decided to change how you receive your Medicare coverage.
Option 6: Request a paper enrollment form from the insurance company
- Call the plan and ask it to mail you an enrollment form for the exact Part D plan you want.
- Confirm the full plan name and plan ID before completing the form.
- Complete and sign the form, make a copy for your records, and return it using the instructions provided by the plan.
- Allow enough mailing time. The plan must receive the form before your enrollment period ends; a postmark alone may not be enough.
- Call the plan to confirm that it received and processed your enrollment.
Option 7: Enroll through a licensed insurance agent or broker
WARNING - Many insurance agents no longer sell Part D drug plans. This option is likely not a viable one anymore.
A state-licensed agent or broker who is authorized to represent the plan may submit an enrollment for you. There should be no fee to process your Medicare plan enrollment.
- Tell the agent that you want only the exact stand-alone Part D plan shown in your HeyMOE reminder or review.
- Confirm the full plan name, plan ID, and that the plan type is PDP.
- Do not sign or authorize enrollment until you have reviewed the completed application.
- Ask for a copy of the application and an enrollment confirmation number.
Remember: An agent or broker may sell multiple types of Medicare coverage. If you use one, repeat that you do not want a Medicare Advantage plan and do not authorize enrollment in any plan other than the exact PDP you selected.
After you submit your enrollment
- Keep your confirmation number, submission date, and any screenshots, emails, or paperwork.
- Watch for an acknowledgment and welcome materials from the new plan.
- Confirm that the new plan's effective date is January 1.
- If you are switching from one stand-alone Part D plan to another, do not cancel your old drug plan yourself. Medicare says your old drug coverage will end when the new coverage begins.
- If you do not receive confirmation, contact the new plan or 1-800-MEDICARE before the enrollment deadline whenever possible.
- Show your new plan card to your pharmacy when the new coverage begins.
What HeyMOE does—and does not do: HeyMOE helps you remember to review your Part D coverage and organize plan-review information. HeyMOE is not Medicare, an insurance company, or an insurance agency. HeyMOE does not sell plans, submit enrollment applications, or change your Medicare coverage. You must complete enrollment through one of the methods above if you want to change plans.
